Moonstone Class 2016 - 2017

We are a mixed class of year 3 and 4 children.

Our teacher is Mrs Brightwell and Mrs Moore is our TA.

Mrs May also teaches our class a few times a week.

Summer Term 2017

We have a very busy term ahead of us in Key Stage Two!

Our year four children will be going to Rock UK for their residential trip, and the year 3 children will be going to Hazard Alley too.

In music, we will be learning to play the African drums.

We have a few transition events lined up for our year 4’s, these include: a literacy event and a trip to see their summer production.

Our Key Stage trip is this term; we are going to see Horrible Histories!

The whole school will be busy putting together our summer concert for festival week later this term.

As always, we will have plenty of sporting clubs and competitions, including cricket and athletics.

Our sports day will also take place this term.

We end this term with our ‘Step up Day’ where our year 4 children will spend the day at their new middle school and the rest of the children visit their new classrooms.

Finally, we will say goodbye to our year 4 in the time honoured fashion of the leaver’s BBQ and talents!

Spring Term 2017

Welcome back to another exciting and busy term!

We would like to welcome Mrs Moore to the Key stage 2 team; she is working in Moonstone class as their new TA.

In Key Stage 2 this term we will be exploring the human body and what keeps it healthy, we will also be taking a close look at our teeth.

We are studying the Vikings in History, this is always great fun, learning about longships and invasions!

We will also be having creative arts week, which involves a lot of glue, paint and fun!

Our year 4 children have their first transition event in March, this will be PE, and the children always enjoy their first visit to Etonbury.

Our year 4 children have also been helping Rev. Bill to lead our collective worship services in school.

We would like to wish all of our teams good luck in their upcoming sports events throughout this term.

Autumn 2016

Dear Parents,
Welcome to Moonstone class, Mrs Jack and I hope that your child is very happy this year.
We will do PE on Tuesday and Friday. Your child will only need kit on Fridays, but it is useful to keep one in school each day so it is not forgotten. We will try to go outside until October half term holiday, weather permitting, and so will need trainers or plimsols and maybe jogging trousers if it gets chilly. If your child has long hair can it be tied back. Please remove or provide something to cover any earrings.
Friday lesson is in the morning and will be delivered by Premier Sport. Tuesday will be dance this half term.
The reading journal and homework diary both need to be handed in on Wednesday.
Homework is to be neat and written in pencil. If the homework is a game can you please sign to show it has been completed, thank you.
Spellings are given out on a Tuesday and tested the following week, there will be 10 spellings a week. Spellings will be practiced 2 times a week in school generally on Tuesday and Thursday.
Times Tables will be tested on Tuesday – they need to know their times tables in a random order.
Library will be on a Wednesday afternoon.
If you have any worries or concerns at any time this year please come to talk to me at any time. Or you can  email me on

Kind Regards

Mrs. Brightwell and Mrs Jack
