Welcome to Diamond Class…. Our teachers are Mrs Easton and Mrs Mythen and Mrs Chapman is our teaching assistant. Autumn Term 2020 Welcome back to the new academic year and to Diamond Class. We have a busy term ahead and lots to look forward to! We will be celebrating harvest festival and are looking forward to our class assembly later this term. Both of these events will be filmed so that you can enjoy watching them at home with your families.
It is really important that you read with your child every day and that this is recorded in their purple reading record books – this helps to track their progress effectively. Unfortunately, we are unable to have parent helpers in school at the moment to help us with hearing readers as regularly as we normally would, so your support with reading at home will be invaluable at this time. Starting after half term; each Thursday the children will be bringing home spellings to learn, please encourage the children to complete the practise sheet and return it to school the following Thursday. In addition, each week the children have a word of the week to learn to read and spell. Please help your child with this i.e. practising writing the word, spotting the word in their reading book and in other books you may read together. Our history topic this term will be Nurturing Nurses. We will be learning all about the life and work of three famous nurses – Florence Nightingale, Mary Seacole and Edith Cavell. As part of our learning we are hoping to have a real nurse talk to the children about their job and how they look after their patients. In science we will be learning about different materials and also conducting some of our own experiments. Please speak to us at the classroom door or send us a message on Class Dojo if you have any questions. Thank you for your support To view our storytime videos please click below |
