Crystal Class 2018 – 2019

We are a class of Year 3 children.
Our teacher is Mrs Smoley and our TA is Mrs Purdie.

Autumn Term 2018

We would like to welcome the children back after the summer break and are looking forward to working with our new classes.  As always we have a busy term ahead of us with lots going on.

We start off our term learning about traditional tales in English, the Stone Age people in History and light and shadow in Science amongst many other things.

In PE, we will be experiencing invasion games.  PE for both Crystal and Jet will be on Wednesdays and during the first half term is usually outside unless we have wet weather.  Please ensure your child has the correct PE kit and footwear for this.

Children will be given homework every Wednesday and that it is due in the following week.  Reading journals also need to be filled in and handed in on a weekly basis – also on a Wednesday.

Both classes will have their own class assemblies this term alongside the harvest festival. Please look out for the dates on the newsletters.

Finally, our term will finish, as always, with the many delights that come with Christmas: parties, pantomime, concerts, Christmas dinner and a visit to St Mary's Church.

Summer Term 2017/2018

We have a very busy term ahead of us in Key Stage two!
Our year four children will be going to Rock UK for their residential trip, and the year 3 children will be going to Hazard Alley too.

In music, we will be learning to play the ukulele.

We have a transition event lined up for our year 4’s, this will be English.

Later in the term we will have some year five teachers joining us
to ‘team teach’ with us in preparation for the transfer to middle school.

In May, we will be celebrating the royal wedding with our own fun and festivities.

This term we will be having a visit from a science team – without giving too

much away it will involve some forensics!

The whole school will be busy putting together our summer concert for

 festival week later this term.

As always, we will have plenty of sporting clubs and competitions,

 including cricket and athletics.

Our sports day will also take place this term.

We end this term with our ‘Step up Day’ where our year 4 children will spend the day at

their new middle school and the rest of the children visit their new classrooms.

Finally, we will say goodbye to our year 4 in the time honoured

fashion of the leaver’s BBQ and talents!

Spring Term
Although this is a short term, we will be filling it with lots to do.
We will be studying America and the mountain ranges that can be found there, we will be learning about Electricity in science, including the safety aspects.
As part of our RE topic, we will be visiting Queens Park in Bedford for a faith tour, this is always a lovely opportunity to see different places of worship.
We will also be having creative arts week, which involves a lot of glue, paint and fun!
Our year 4 children will continue to help Rev. Bill to lead our collective worship services in school. The year 4 children will also be attending their first transition event at Etonbury, later on this term.
The SMSA sponsored bounce will also take place this term.
We would like to wish all of our teams good luck in their upcoming sports events throughout this term.

We would like to welcome the children back after the summer break.
We have a busy term ahead of us. Our main topic for this term is the Romans, we will be learning all about how they lived, how they fought and the changes they made to our country. We will also have a visit from Legion XIIII which is always a fun day.
We will all have our own class assemblies this term alongside the harvest festival and many of our KS2 children will take part in collective worship with Rev. Bill.
Our year 4 pupils will be attending Saxon pool for swimming lessons this term, as well as some of them taking part in the tag rugby festival.
Our term will finish, as always, with the many delights that come with Christmas: parties, pantomime, concerts, Christmas dinner and a visit to St Mary's Church.
We would like to remind you that the children will be given homework every Wednesday and that it is due in the following week.
Reading journals need to be filled in and handed in on a weekly basis.
Your child will have been given a copy of the days that their class will need these.
When your child does PE or attends a PE event they must remember to bring in the correct kit.
